Ethel M. Tenney, 101, formerly of 76 Sullivan Street in Claremont,
died Tuesday, February 12 at the Westgate Manor Nursing Home in Bangor,
ME, following a period of failing health. She was born in Broadlands,
PQ, Canada on January 23, 1901 the daughter of Nathaniel and Mary (Furlotte)
Comely and had been a Claremont resident for the past 50 years before
moving to Maine in 2000 to live with her niece and her family before
entering Westgate Manor. She had been employed as a Registered Nurse
by Claremont General Hospital until her retirement in 1965. She was a
former member of the Claremont Grange. She was the widow of George Tenney.
Members of her surviving family include a niece, Linda Kaine, Orrington,
ME; a sister, Eliza McIntyre, Campbellton, New Brunswick. She was predeceased
by two sisters, Beatrice Barnes and Janie Ohlsen and two brothers, Herbert
Comely and Ford Comely. There will be no visiting hours. Graveside services
will be held later in the spring in Rockland Cemetery in McAdam, New
Brunswick. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home,
93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH.

In Fredericton N.B. On December the 19th 2003. Marguerite Lottie Theriault
of McAdam N.B. Born March 17th 1935. Daughter of the late Annie McIntyre.
Survived by: Common Law Husband: Wilfred J. Sauliner. Of McAdam, N.B.
Son: Russell J. Theriault (Rose) of McAdam N.B. Daughter: Brenda M. Libby
(Robert) of Nacwick N.B. Son: Gregory L. Theriault (Ann) of Harvey N.B.
Son: Dale J. Theriault (Delphine) of Christie Ridge N.B. Daughter: Leonora
T Mott (Kevin) of Tracy N.B. One Brother Paul Leavitt (Stella) of Wiewig
N.B. 15 Grandchildren, 8 Great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

The death of Arnold O. Thomas of McAdam occurred
at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, on July 12, 2004. Born in
McAdam on January 15, 1912, he was a son of the late Hugh A. and Millicent
(Nason) Thomas. Following High School graduation he apprenticed as
a machinist at the CPR shops in McAdam. Since there was no work available
with the CPR upon completion of his apprenticeship, he worked on the
McAdam to St. Stephen highway, at the Milltown Cotton Mill and at the
CNR shops in Moncton before returning to McAdam in 1942 to work for
the CPR, retiring in January of 1975. He was a Life Member of the International
Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Survived by two daughters, Gail (Brian) Gilliss of Oromocto and Janet
Thomas of London, ON; two grandchildren, Stephen Gilliss of Halifax,
NS and Krista Gilliss of Oromocto; two brothers, Lawrence (Mary) Thomas
of McAdam and Blaine (Idella) Thomas of Fredericton; a sister, Phyllis
Walsh of Fairfield, Connecticut; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy E. Gibson of Debec; his
parents; his stepmother, the former Dorothy E. Robison of Harvey; two
brothers, Irving Thomas of McAdam and Stanton Thomas of Peterborough,
ON.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 2 p.m.
from St. Paul's United Church, 155 Saunders Road, McAdam, where he
had served as an Elder. Following the funeral service, friends are
invited to join the family at a reception in the church hall. Interment
will then take place in St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.

Douglas Fraser Thorburn, 90, of McAdam, N.B. passed away at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., on Tuesday, March 2, 2004.
Son of the late Fraser and Margaret (Best) Thorburn of McAdam, N.B. Husband
of the late Doris (Hay) Thorburn. Doug was retired from Canada Customs
and a veteran of World War II. Survived by two daughters, Alicia Leger
(Alonzo), Riverview, N.B., Sheila Scott (Shane), Fredericton, N.B.; three
sons, Ted (Caroline) and Frank Thorburn, McAdam, N.B., David Thorburn
(Anne), Fredericton, N.B.; grandchildren, Shawn, Jeff, Sarah and Kyle
Thorburn, Marc and Angela Leger (Stephane) and Matthew, Nathan and Tyler
Scott; two great grandchildren, Alexandre and Maya Cyr; one brother,
Harry, Mission, B.C.; three sisters, Gertrude Glancy, Seattle, Wa., Jessie

Ruth Purves Thorburn

|
The death of Ruth Purves Thorburn (nee Anderson) of McAdam,
NB occurred on July 30, 2008 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital surrounded
by her family.
Ruth was born in Salmon River, Victoria County, NB on July 23, 1912 to Charles
and Mae (Gardiner) Anderson. They moved to McAdam at an early age where she spent
the remainder of her life. She married her high school sweetheart, Ced, and raised
a family. Ruth attended McAdam Composite School graduating in 1929 and then went
on to attend the Provincial Normal School and the Royal Victoria School of Nursing
in Montreal. Ruth applied her nursing skills in her community, administering
palliative care to friends and family. In 1965 she went to work at McLean Memorial
Hospital for eleven years-retiring in 1976.
Ruth enjoyed handiwork, knitting, sewing, playing cards with her "club" friends,
bridge, bingo and crosswords. She was active in the McAdam Curling Club in the ‘60’s
and 70’s. She made many friends and wonderful memories which sustained
her in later years. Ruth enjoyed many visits with family and friends and
received great support from her neighbors and homemakers which enabled
her to reside in her beloved home until the last six months of her life.
Ruth was a proud, loving mother to her children Beverley(Judi) of Kentville,
NS; Karen Lister (Duane) Rothesay, NB; Joan Dixon (Curtis) Fredericton; James
Thorburn(Heather) Lake George, NB.
Ruth was equally proud of her eight grandchildren; Mark(Ann) Thorburn, Quispamsis,
NB; Lori Forbes , Halifax, NS; Todd (Martha) Lister, Rothesay, NB; Tanya(Eric)
Seely, Riverview , NB; Kim(Todd) Stephens, Fredericton,NB; Peter (Jodi) Dixon
, Miramichi City, NB; Craig Dixon, Brockway,NB and Christie (Paul) MacKeigan,
Lake George, NB as well as 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a
sister-in-law, Mavis Boudreau, two cousins and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, H Cedric Thorburn in 1984 and
brothers Frank(Sadie) Anderson, Laurie (Lillian) Anderson, Keith(Doris) Anderson,
and sisters, Mabel (Oswald) Coburn and Reta (Arthur) Estey.
Grateful thank you to staff at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for their kindness
to mother and our family at this difficult time. Special thanks to Doctor Hayter
and Doctor Hartt for their care.
Thank you mom for being the "wind beneath our wings" for so many years. This
will continue as a mother’s love is forever.
Memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church in McAdam on
Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Visitation
will be Saturday, August 2 at St. Paul’s from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday from
11 a.m. - 12 noon. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery. Remembrances would
be appreciated to the St. Paul’s United Church Fund or charity of donor’s
choice. Condolences can be made online.

A graveside service was held for Larry B. Tracy of Port Hope, Ontario
and formerly of McAdam, NB at Rockland Cemetery in McAdam, NB on Monday,
November 14, 2005. Born in McAdam, NB in 1946, he was a son of the
late Aden and Lorraine (Christie) Tracy. Larry passed away November
5, 2005 and funeral services were held in Ontario.
Larry is survived by four children, Wade Tracy, Ontario, Misty Tracy, British
Columbia and their mother Iris, Chad Tracy and Ryan Tracy of Ontario and their
mother Carmen; three grandchildren, Rachel Tracy, Amelia Tracy Jeffrey Tracy;
a brother, Wayne Tracy, Campbellton, NB; three sisters, Judy Tracy, Amherst,
NS, Debbie Phillips (Clinton), Tracy and Diane Tracy, Brampton, ON; two aunts,
Muriel Swan (Ernest) and Elinor Holland (Frank), both of Harvey, NB.
