Doris Laking

Doris Laking of McAdam, N.B. passed away at Harvey Community Hospital May 16, 2002 after a lengthy illness at the age of 71. Doris is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Heather Canoe B.C., Penny (George Panayiotopoullos) New Maryland, sons Donnie Athabaska AB. and Peter Marysville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Annie Denyer, sisters, Anne Sullivan, Grace Crocker, and brothers Thomas and Donald. Visitation at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, Highland Avenue, McAdam, N.B. on Sunday May 19, 2002 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. From where funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 20, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Maynard Everett LaKing (Rev)

Rev. Maynard E. LaKing of McAdam, NB passed away at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on August 15, 2008. Born in 1920 at McAdam, he was a son of the late Lorenzo C. and Margaret M. (Fielding) LaKing. Maynard was employed with C.P.R. in McAdam for over thirty years as a carman. He ministered for many years with Emmanuel Outreach Ministries in Canterbury, NB and surrounding areas. During his retirement years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Marion M. (McGee) LaKing; a daughter, Merna Harper (Garth), Regina, SK; three sons, Douglas LaKing (Patsy), McAdam, NB, Carl LaKing (Doreen), Calgary, AB and Danny LaKing, Prince George, BC; a sister, Faith Wright, Sussex, NB ; three brothers, Calvin LaKing (Frances), Guy LaKing (Christine) and Lawrence LaKing (Betty), all of McAdam, NB; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Maynard was predeceased by sisters Mabel Roberts and Irma Bishop and brothers, James, Lorenzo, Edward and Milford LaKing.

Although there will be no visiting hours, friends are welcome to attend the funeral service to be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station, NB on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Rev. George Clark and Rev. Weldon LaKing officiating. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Merrithew.

Active pallbearers will be Reg McGee, Ron McGee, Roy Swim, Curtis Dixon, Eldon LaKing and Roy Donahue.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Maynard, the family has suggested the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Mary Addrossa Lister

The passing of Mary Addrossa Lister of McAdam, NB wife of the late George Alexander Lister, occurred on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 26, 1912 in McAdam, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lil (Short) and Beauman McGee. She was a member of the Rockland Drive United Baptist Church, the Missionary Group and the Church Guild. Mary belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary is survived by five daughters, Gloria (George) Cook of McAdam, Lil (Blair) Watson of Harvey Station, Lola (David) Miller of Fredericton, Mary Ann Trott of Medicine Hat, Alta., Betty (Gary) Lemmon of Harvey Station; one son, George (Laurel) Lister of Ajax, ON; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Lola Rushton of McAdam; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Edna McGillicuddy; brothers, Chester McGee and Eldrich (Bozo) McGee; sister-in-law, Lottie McGee; son-in-law, Tom Trott and great grandson, James Miller. Visitation will take place at the Rockland Drive United Baptist Church, McAdam, NB on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the church on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 2 pm with Pastor Scott Kohler officiating. A private interment will take place in the Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, NB. Donald Lister Little

Lovingly surrounded by family, the passing of Donald Lister Little occurred at McLean Memorial Hospital, McAdam, N.B. on Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the age of 79 years. Born in McAdam, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Doris (Lister) Little. A veteran of WWII, Donald served with the Royal Canadian Navy, aboard the HMCS Iroquois. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 7, McAdam. Donald was a Carman for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 42 years. Donald is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ruth (McLeod Moore): his children Sharon (Larry Swan); Terry (Glenna); James (Sharon); Donna (Bruce Tufts); Michael (Brenda); and Mitchell (Debbie); stepson Gerald (Doreen) Moore; twelve grandchildren, Darren, Tanya, Wendy, Candice, Joshua, Robin, Chris, Jeffrey, Meghan, Tracey, Michelle, Talitha, Tabatha and Jennifer; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ross (Virginia); two sisters, Sandra (Robert Gillespie); Norma (Jimmy Little), several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his stepmother Elizabeth, first wife Alice, and brother, Ralph. Resting at St. Paul's United Church, McAdam, N.B., where visitation will be held on Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at 2:00p.m. Rev. Ellen Beairsto and Rev. Terry Kennedy will officiate. Internment at Rockland Drive Cemetery. Pallbearers will include his four sons and three of his grandsons. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the charity of one's choice. A legion tribute service will be held at the graveside. Margaret Clara Lounder
The death of Margaret C. Lounder of Fredericton and formerly of McAdam occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, December 11, 2006 at the age of 82. Born in Jacquet River, NB she was a daughter of the late Paul and Emma (Goodine) Furlong. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Womens Auxilliary in McAdam. She enjoyed playing crib with her husband and enjoyed spending many happy times with family and friends at their camp at Spednik Lake. Survived by her husband of 60 years Frank who she was so devoted to with such a caring and loving manner; son Walter (Sharon) Lounder of Kentucky (formerly of McAdam); daughter Janet Landry (Richard) of Moncton; four precious grandchildren Tracy (Ross) Piercy of McAdam, Tara Landry of Halifax, Matthew and Chris Landry both of Moncton; two great-grandchildren Courtney and Meghan Piercy; sisters Ethel McGregor, Ruby Lawless, Hilda Moran and Lou Mann; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and Tracy Piercy's mom Ella of McAdam. Predeceased by her brother Walter Furlong; sisters Dot Guitard, Leona McGregor and Mary Legacy. Resting at Bishops Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. with visiting on Thursday December 14, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Bishops Funeral Home Chapel on Friday December 14, 2006 at 1:00PM with Rev. Will Patterson officiating.
